For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ~ Romans 1:16
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Why is it that the gospel need be preached to the Roman believers. Do not they already know the gospel that he desires to bring? Two things are probable in this statement. First, Paul does indeed desire to bring that same gospel to them which they already know. He desires that they remember that which God has done for them and be reminded of the Gospel’s life changing consequences. Second, Paul’s use of the term “gospel” allows for a broader meaning than simply the good news of salvation. It also indicates a mandate to make disciples. Why else would he preach the gospel to those who already know the gospel? Does not he also intend that they go forth to proclaim to others that which they have already received?
ACTION POINT: Live today with the gospel in mind. Thank God for His wonderful love and share His good news with those God puts in your path.
